Oh the joys of a one year old! They are so cute and so fun and it’s so amazing to see them beginning to develop mentally and physically. Many toys for 1 year olds are perfect for helping them do just that.
When my wife and I started researching and buying toys for our one-year-old, we wanted to make sure they were educational, healthy, and fun.
We’ve now been through the one-year-old phase three times, so we feel like we’re pretty much experts with this age. We didn’t just study and research toys online … we watched the toy playing unfold in front of our eyes.
Even though we’ve seen our kids play with lots of toys, new great toys are coming out all the time!
Below you will find a shopping guide for parents and grandparents that will benefit everyone in the family one way or another.
Toys For 1 Year Old Girls
This is the category I want to start with because our first two kids were girls.
I remember almost all of their toys. In fact, we still have a ton of them. Talk about longevity! That was a factor when I was doing research. I wanted them to have things that lasted a long time and wouldn’t break easily.
Out of the six best toys for 1 year olds you see listed below my girls had several of these exact ones.
The gloworm, piggy bank, and squeeze blocks were some of their favorites. The piggy bank is great for teachings kids counting and it helps develop their fine motor skills. And the blocks are super fun to stack and knock down.
Our three kids have spent hours playing with these toys. When our son turned one, we got him the Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker and he loved it! There are so many things to do with it.
Obviously, even though some of these toys are listed under the girls section, they can be just as much fun for boys. That’s one of the great things about toys for one-year-olds … a lot of them are gender neutral.
Toys For 1 Year Old Boys
These toys for 1 year old boys are very similar to the girls toys above simply because they are affordable, durable and we know based on research they are quality and will make your baby very happy.
My girls had a couple of these, but toys like the tractor and tool set are geared towards boys. We have the soccer ball that plays music and the stacking toy as well which have both lasted a long, long time.
The great thing is that you can buy some of these toys now and use them for years, especially if you have more children. Our son has no idea he’s playing with toys that are several years old. And he has just as much fun as his sisters did.
I like the sports activity center the best! Which one do you like the best or which one do you think your child would enjoy?
Laugh & Learn Singin’ Soccer Ball Review
We have this cool ball and our kids have had a blast with it!
We’ve found that balls like this are in everyone’s top five list of toys for 1 year olds.
The 1st Most Wished For Toy For 1 Year Olds
I was curious to see which the most wished for toys for 1 year olds. It’s actually the VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker which I already have listed above in the first grouping. I can agree that it really is spectacular in so many ways.
The next fun toy that is most wished for is the VTech Spin and Learn Color Flashlight. It’s got all sorts of cool animal sounds and a light with multiple colors such as yellow, red and blue. It also plays music!
Reviewers say it’s especially perfect at night when you can see all the cool colors. This is one toy we didn’t buy, but I wish we had.
